Taj Mahal

The monument of love – Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world. It was built by Mughal emperor Shahjahan in the memory of his beloved wife – Mumtaz Mahal. This monument is built of white marble and it took 20 years to complete it. This wonderful monument is one of the most photographed and visited places in the whole world.

Please Note:- Taj Mahal remains closed on Fridays.

Agra Fort

Another famous tourist attraction in this city is Agra Fort, which is a noted UNESCO World heritage site. This monument is built in red sandstone and located on the banks of Yamuna river. Also known as “walled city”, this monument was renovated by Mughal emperor Akbar and it took 8 years (1565-1573) to complete it. There were many additions to this monument and to name a few it includes Khas Mahal, Musamman Burj, Shish Mahal and many others.

I’timād-ud-Daulah

A famous Mughal mausoleum is also known “Baby Taj” and “Jewel Box”. It is located on the banks of the Yamuna river and was commissioned by the wife of Jahangir, Nur Jahan for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg. It is constructed of red sandstone with marble decorations in between 1622-1628. This tomb is set in a big cruciform garden which is crisscrossed by walkways and water courses.

Fatehpur Sikri

It is a small town, which is 36 km away from Agra and was founded by the Mughal emperor in the year 1569. This town served as the capital of the Mughal empire from 1571 to 1585 and crowned as one of the UNESCO heritage sites. Fatehpur Sikri is one of the most excellent preserved collections of Indian Mughal architecture in India. It has a versatile and prolific Indo-Muslim style of architecture, which is a wonderful fusion various cultures. The huge complex of Fatehpur Sikri comprises of many buildings such as Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Diwan-i-Aam and many others.
