Prominent places to visit in Udaipur

Jagdish Temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and was built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh. It was originally called as “the temple of Jagannath Rai”. Jagdish Temple is a three-storied temple having painted walls, decorated ceilings, lush halls and beautifully carved pillars.

City Palace

This Palace was built in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II and situated on the east side of Lake Pichola. The royal complex of City Palace has many gardens, a museum and other historical buildings. It represents a magnificent fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal style of architecture. This palace also features Chinese, European and Medieval style of architecture.

Fateh Sagar Lake

This pear-shaped lake was reconstructed by Maharana Jai Singh in 1888. Fateh Sagar Lake – an artificial lake is enclosed by the Aravalli hills from three sides and is a perfect spot for enjoying boating. It is considered the best place to enjoy the sunset view.

Saheliyon-Ki-Bari

It is a royal garden that was built by Maharana Sangram Singh in between 1710 – 1734. The king constructed it for a group of forty-eight young women attendants who accompanied the princess as part of her dowry. This garden also has lotus pools, marble elephants and a small museum.

Monsoon Palace

Also called Sajjan Garh Palace was built by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884 to watch the monsoon clouds. Monsoon Palace is built of white marble and gives a panoramic view of the whole Udaipur city. This palace is very popular among tourists to view the sunset.
